Happy holidays to everyone, I'm glad everyone is doing ok.  I'm still hanging in there with periodic days of Lotro.  They are in Minas Tirith at this point.  The story line quest was pretty bulky for a while but I have to say the last story line arc was fantastic.  I won't ruin it for anybody though but I thought it rocked.  Anyway miss you all and hope you and your families are doing well.

I've always been a fan of indie games, but this year I kind of took it to a new level. My favorite so far has been Nuclear Throne by Vlambeer. I also have a huge affection for Darkest Dungeons, and Crypt of the NecroDancer.

Crypt of the NecroDancer is particularly brilliant because it's a roguelike game combined with a rhythm game. You have to make moves in time to the beat, and it's pretty hard when you don't have time to think about your situation like you would normally =P

Thanks for the update on everyone, Liger. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I miss a lot of the "inconveniences" that are being done away with MMORPG's now a days. Like travel being a "big thing" =P

I hear ya there, MMORPG's have become, in my opinion, overly 'Casualified', to gain quantity over quality player base.  While its nice to have options of dungeon finders, quick travel, and whatnot, so much has been over-simplified to reach out to more people with less time and shorter attention spans...  While the less time appeal is seemingly a good thing, there is no longer a real need to make plans to play or set aside time with modern MMORPG's and those that have 'evolved' over the years that are still going.  With the game generes growing yearly, competition for the 'next hot thing' is sadly burning out the market.  Quality games with any type of immersion are few and far between, and I believe the main fault comes with the availability of technology, with the technology booms we have seen over the past decade.  I still have hope for EQN, as it is very sandboxy, even though the EQN website itself has not had an update in quite a while, the Landmark forums has, and thats where the major development is happening.  If they can impliment servertypes that are not only PVE, PvP & RP, but Rule Sets for those, such as Classic (Less speedy travel limited if any dungeon finding), Casual (Speedy travel everywhere, Dungeon finding out the Huzzah) and perhaps a happy medium.  But thats enough from me.

Hey, Kohrem, glad you could stop by!  I got Fallout 4 for Christmas myself, so I have been exploring that lately.  To the best of my knowledge Ark and Mad are still in GW2, since the expansion release, with Wod stopping by when family/work allows, and last meeting I was at Opel was looking into joining back up in GW2 just to do something.  I heard Yan still plays LOTRO, and Suri is back for a bit now, and said in the 'Touching Base' thread he'd be interested in picking up LOTRO again, but that was over a month ago now.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!  I haven't been playing many multiplayer games lately, although I have played a few single player (Some idle games, and also have spent time with Kingdom, Fallout 4, and most recently Guild of Dungeoneering).  My interest in Marvel Heroes waned sometime in the summer and there hasn't been anything that has captured my interest to that level since then.

I had a pretty good year myself, with a new, more interesting job (at the same company), getting my final professional certification (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) and getting a house of my own.    </end braggy Christmas update letter>

I look forward to getting together with the Pax crew again in the coming year, and who knows, maybe we'll find a game to interest us all soon!

I second this, and know this is a busy time for everyone, so just remember to take it easy this holiday season, and don't over do it.  Games are here for our enjoyment, though there may be incentive to play them for 'X' amount of hours for 'X' amount of consecutive days, never let the game play you, for at least from where I am sitting, it is not Soviet Russia.

I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas (or any other holidays you may celebrate) this year! I have been very busy this year, but I had a great time. Even though I wasn't able to game with everyone as much as prior years, I still think fondly back to all the games we played together. And part of me knows that we'll be doing it again! I hope everyone else has had a great year and that you have found the time to enjoy some great games.
