If you are planning on leveling up a legendary item save up the tokens from the crafting instances. If you turn in 18 (6 instances worth) you can get a 190,000 exp rune. Compare that to getting about 2000 - 4000 exp for doing an experience quest or 40,000 for the best Turtle rune. This alone can get your first or second age up to max in just 2 weeks.

Just to put that in context, most radiance instances will drop 4 runes per boss that have only 7500, 10000 or 15000 experience a piece. There is an average of 3 bosses per instance, and therefore you will get 2 runes per instance on average (let's say 15000 total since most bosses only have the 7500 ones). It would take 13 instance runs to average out to that, and at half hour per instance run that's 6.5 hours, not to mention time spent finding groups and any other mishaps suffered.
Time to do 6 crafting instances? Even the slower classes can do one crafting instance every 20 minutes. It will be around 2.5 hours just to get the same amount of experience.

But do you consider the booredom of doing a crafting instance versus the fun of destrying a radiance instance in a group?

So true! That is an individual decision, efficiency vs. the soul crushing grind =P

The time to finish is a good point. On the RK, I feel like its more than worth it at around 6.5-9 minutes per crafting instance, but I've only done them once on the captain because it just takes too long.
